A visit to the Perth Farmers Market and Stewart Park

Estimated read time 3 min read

Perth, ON is such a pretty little town. There is the beautiful Stewart, Park, one of the 7 wonders of Lanark County, the Tay Canal, the really cute shops along Gore Street, and of course on Saturday mornings the Perth Farmers Market. Perth even has a Garlic Festival in August. I didn’t get a chance to visit the garlic festival this year, but it is on my list for next summer.

This last visit to Perth was to visit the farmers market. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t anything spectacular but it was well attended. There were a variety of vendors including baked goods, produce, artisans, jams, chutneys, food vendors and stalls, and of course dogs. I did like that there was an indoor section to the farmers market. I believe this is what they call the Crystal Palace. A glass building that had a number of vendors set up. There was quite a bit of seating within the market, which is always nice. The location is great, near the Tay Canal where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats, and canoes and go exploring. It’s at most a 10-minute walk from Stewart Park, another beautiful site in Perth. And unless I was seeing things, I also came across a Stella Luna on this last visit to Perth.

Perth, ON and it’s surroundings on its own is a town worth a day trip and exploring. If you hapeen to be there on a Saturday morning, drop by the farmers market however the Perth Farmers Market on it’s own doesn’t make the town.
