List of Ottawa farmers markets by day of the week

Estimated read time 6 min read

There are more farmers and crafters markets in Ottawa and surrounding areas than I, and I suspect, most people realize.  When I started my journey to get out and start using my car again after COVID restrictions started loosening, my aim was to visit local farmers’ markets in the Ottawa Valley.  I knew there were a few farmers’ markets in Ottawa, in particular the Lansdowne Farmers Market, the Parkdale Market, and the Westboro Farmers Market.  I had been to those so I decided to get out Google Maps, locate small towns within a one and two-hour drive from me, and search for farmers markets in that town or nearby. Once I started, I found more markets, then more and more markets.   I was excited and wanted to visit them all. Unfortunately, most were on Saturday mornings.  I can only be in one place at a time on Saturday mornings.  I started searching for farmers’ markets on Sundays, afternoons, and even weekdays.  Eventually, I noticed that most farmers’ markets are on the weekends, Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings.  The Kemptville Farmers Market is one of the few markets I have found in the area that starts at noon and continues into the afternoon.  Most markets start first thing in the morning and will continue until after lunch. A few continue into the mid-afternoon.  There were a few markets that were held during the weekdays, either in the morning or evening.   The Old Chelsea Market and the Merrickville Midweek Market are examples of weekday evening markets.   Below is the start of a list of Ottawa Farmers Markets for Saturday, Sunday, and weekday markets in and around Ottawa.

Farmers Markets

Ottawa is located right at the border of Ontario and Quebec.  Most of the markets listed above have been on the Ontario side and mostly west and south of Ottawa.  However, there are many farmers’ markets on the other side of the river, the Ottawa River, that need exploration.   The Outaouis and the Laurentians are within a one to two hours drive from Ottawa.  This is a project for next summer.

This list of Ottawa Farmers Markets is just a few of the farmers markets within the Ottawa Valley and a 2-hour drive of home base in Ottawa.  There are more markets in the area and lists of markets out there. The Farmers Markets in Ottawa post is an ever-growing with farmers’ markets and lists. There are many more markets out there.  There are also seasonal markets, Christmas markets, craft and artisans markets, and of course there are flea markets.

I enjoy learning and sharing that knowledge. Sharing has been in many forms over the years, as a teaching assistant, university lecturer, Pilates instructor, math tutor and just sharing with friends and family. Throughout, summarizing what I have learnt in words has always been there and continues to through blog posts, articles, video and the ever growing forms of content out there!
