The best tea inspired starter with jalapeno tea poppers recipe

Estimated read time 3 min read

There is the great fresh food market near work throughout the spring, summer and fall. The last couple of weeks I have noticed the hot peppers. They look so good!  Bright red and green colours!  I’m not a hot pepper kind of person but I had to buy some.  So I did.  Now what was I going to do with them?  I have no idea what possessed me to make Jalapeno poppers but given I had all these hot jalapeno peppers, it seems to be the natural solution for them.  I searched for a jalapeno popper recipe and this is what I decided on. A tea infused version giving a jalapeno tea poppers recipe. It’s a keto friendly recipe!  Unfortunately, that doesn’t make it less hot.  I have learnt that you do not rub your eyes after cutter hot peppers;  the little green stuffed jalapeno poppers, while very cute are very deadly!  And having hot lips, doesn’t feel all that sexy!  The one redeeming think about this recipe is the bacon.  If you enjoy hot and spicy foods, I do suggest these little jalapeno poppers.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces thick bacon
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces plain cream cheese softened
  • 1 -2 tsp of tea leaves (green, black, oolong, Refreshing Lemon ( Ginger)
  • 10 jalapenos

Directions:

  1. Bake the 4 pieces of bacon.
  2. Shred 4 ounces of cheese
  3. Preheat oven to 350F
  4. Mix cheddar cheese and cream cheese together.  Add in the dried tea.
  5. Chop the 4 pieces of bacon and mix into cheese mixture.
  6. Cut jalapeno peppers into half and remove the seeds and ribs.
  7. Stuff the jalapenos pepper halves with the bacon and cheese mixture.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes.

Modifications for future versions:

In future trials of this recipe, I would coat these little poppers in tempura and deep fry them. I think that would make for an interesting little pop and maybe camouflage the fact it’s a hot pepper!  I would also add some chopped tea leaves to the mixture, either a green, black or oolong.

Alternate tea choices:

I would use the refreshing lemon ginger tea in the cheese mixture to and a little bit a gingery zip, not that there isn’t enough zip but an alternative zip to the hot chill of the jalapeno pepper.

Note:

I’m no cook, chef or baker so everything I make is based on the enjoyment of creating something new, cooking, baking and especially tea!  I hope you enjoy the recipes, both making them and the tasting the results!
