The farmers markets visits for spring, summer, and fall 2024 is optimisitic! I’m hoping to make it to the farmers markets in the Outaouais and the farmers markets in the Laurentians. These are areas in the province in Quebec just north and north each of Ottawa.
There are a few farmers markets in Ontario, within the Ottawa Valley, just north west of Ottawa I’m to try hit first. These include, the Pembroke farmers market, the Calabogie Farmers Market and the Petawawa Container Market. This last one isn’t quite a farmers market but looks really interesting. So I have to go check it out! There is a nice list of all the Ottawa Valley farmers markets on the Taste of the Valley website. I haven’t decided If I’ll include these in my farmers markets visits for 2024 as well, but it’s a nice list.
As I’m writing this I just realized there is the Westport Market that I have to visit because I really have to see Westport, Ontario. I have only heard great things about this small town! And of course I have to get down to see the Kingston Farmers markets and the Cornwall farmers markets as each of these towns have two farmers markets, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. And I can’t forget about the Gananoque Farmers market. This one is little more challenging logistically as it’s during the week on Thursday evenings. That reminds me about the Merrickville Midweek Market. This one is a bit suspect as their facebook page has not been updated since 2019. I’ll need to reach out to confirm the details of this market. But another weekday market. I recently learn about the Merrickville Markers Market with is once a year in the fall. Details of this even are already up. Save the date, Saturday, September 7, 2024. Not quite a farmers market but still a market. The Chelsea Market is in Quebec is also part of the Outaouis markets however it is another weekday evening market.
It looks like the farmers markets visits in 2024 are no longer confirmed as there are too many amazing farmers markets to visit within a 2 to 2.5 hour radius of Ottawa and not enough weekends to visit them all in. What I can say with certainty is that I have started the farmers markets visits 2024 season with Greely Good Market! As usual, my big list of farmers markets continues to grow.
