Big Farmers Market in Carp

Estimated read time 2 min read

This weekend I went to visit the farmers market in Carp, ON. It wasn’t too far but far enough that it felt very out of town. I wasn’t sure what to expect because the past few weeks of farmers markets were a bit hit and miss what with the beginning of the season. But this was a pleasant surprise. It was so big and full of a variety of vendors.

There were vendors selling plants, prepared food, fresh produce, crafts, baked good, drinks, even popcorn! It was great. I really enjoyed it. Not every vendor had the best customer service, but those that did, made up for it. I found a great rhubarb-maple tart and herb and cheese bread made by Kathy Cassanto’s Baked Goods. I discovered this avocado seed tea by Myavotea. Very interesting idea to take avocado seeds, shave them and then brew them like tea. I got my first fresh strawberries of the season from McGregor’s Produce, arugula from Basswood Garden’s. They were very kind. I need to make a salad now! I got some fresh, young garlic from Needham’s Market Garden that I’m looking forward to trying. And I stood in line for a cookie pie by Toro Treats. Service left a little to be desired and the pie was a bit too sweet for me, but the idea of a cookie pie, is genius! Now maybe cream cheese in between the cookie pie crust?

There were so many other great vendors and interesting products. A vendor selling strawberry wine and varieties on that theme that I need to try. There were dog treats, a pop corn bar and frozen pizzas made from fresh produce. The prepared food was a surprise and something I will have to make room for next time. And of course gelato by Stella Luna was there too! I haven’t even mentioned all the vendors selling crafts and hand made goods. I’ll definitely have to go again and get some more pictures!

I enjoy learning and sharing that knowledge. Sharing has been in many forms over the years, as a teaching assistant, university lecturer, Pilates instructor, math tutor and just sharing with friends and family. Throughout, summarizing what I have learnt in words has always been there and continues to through blog posts, articles, video and the ever growing forms of content out there!
